Research has shown that reading over the summer break helps prevent students from losing ground and helps prepare them for the next school year - stop the "summer slide" by participating in the library's Summer Reading Program!
Participate in this free program encouraging young people to read and listen to books for fun. Pick up a reading log at the public library to keep track of your reading. Visit the library weekly to select a fun incentive. Reading may be done anywhere: home, school, vacation, etc.
All programs, materials, and incentives are FREE!

The 'Between the Covers' Summer Reading Program at the Headquarters Branch will kick off on Saturday, June 2nd from 11am-1pm. Bring the family! Free watermelon and entertainment provided by Ktech of 3D Studio and Sounds.
We will host a wide variety of enrichment programs and classes in art, health, business, and more, throughout the summer.

Adults (ages 18+) may participate in the 'Between the Covers' Summer Reading Program at the Lovejoy Branch between June 1-August 3 by reading any books you choose and submitting short fill-in-the-blank book reviews for each one. A random book review will be chosen each Friday and awarded a small prize! (You do not need to be present to win.) Click here to print out the book review form, then turn it in to the Lovejoy Branch during business hours.
We will also have a twice-monthly movie night, starting on Tuesday, June 5th at 6pm with a dramatic blockbuster about the Tuskegee Airmen, the first African-American pilots to fly in a combat squadron during World War II. See the calendar for more details.
Adults (18+) may participate in the 'Between the Covers' Summer Reading Program at the Riverdale Branch by reading any books you choose and submitting a Summer Reading Book Review form (available at the Riverdale Branch) for each one. Each review form will be submitted into a weekly prize drawing. The winners will be announced each Monday starting on June 4th and ending on August 6th. (You do not need to be present to win.)
We will also have a weekly movie night, starting on Tuesday, June 5th at 6:30 pm with a popular film that takes place in a world where technology exists to enter the human mind through dreams. See the calendar for more details.

The Atlanta Hawks are sponsoring a reading challenge for K-12 students between June 11-August 20. Participants who meet the challenge goals will be able to earn a free ticket to see the Hawks play during the 2011-2012 season!

Students in Grade 1-6 (entering or leaving those grades) may participate at any local Barnes & Noble store for a chance to earn a free book.
